2007 Award Recipients Announced

President George W. Bush and Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today announced that five organizations are the recipients of the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest Presidential honor for organizational performance excellence. For the first time in the history of the Baldrige Award, nonprofit organizations have been selected.

The 2007 Baldrige Award recipients are one small business, two nonprofit organizations, and two heath care organizations:

• PRO-TEC Coating Co., Leipsic, Ohio (small business)
• Mercy Health System, Janesville, Wisc. (health care)
• Sharp HealthCare, San Diego, Calif. (health care)
• City of Coral Springs, Coral Springs, Fla. (nonprofit)
• U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. (nonprofit)

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, said President Bush. Hard work, innovation, and the entrepreneurial spirit reflect the values that make our country strong.

Baldrige Program to Celebrate its 20th Anniversary at QE

In conjunction with the Quest for Excellence XX Conference, to be held April 22-25, 2008, at the Hilton Washington in Washington, D.C., the Baldrige community will be celebrating its first 20 years of excellence! A 20th-anniversary video highlighting the Award recipients from 1998 to 2007 will be premiered as part of a dinner gala on April 22. In addition, the gala will feature recipients from each Award sector.
